Fred and Erna to the rescue !

Yesterday, Saturday, I decided to strike back against those rabbits, who I think were the culprits and ate some of my lettuce (see my earlier post). So I did some research Friday night, and on saturday morning went to homedepot and with a budget of under 50$ bought the following:

  • poultry netting (went for the more expensive green one which looks nicer (green vs metal with a coating) and is better to handle with less risk of the kids getting hurt), 2 packs at $15 each (2 ft x 25 ft)
  • 8x 3 ft rebars at $1.37 each
  • wire
  • some more lettuce

Here you can see all the material:

It was relatively easy to put the fence around the garden and I also used some nails to attach it to the bed itself. Final product looked like this:

I then also put some aluminum foil into a few places as I read that this might scare the birds away:

Oh, and then I have to little helpers, who make sure the rabbits and birds stay away when I am not there.

Let's see how it goes. I will report back when there is more to report....... or not.
